03F187FDFFD9FF94FF32F959C5EDFEA4.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Mata can be distinguished from other genera within Oncotympanini (Oncotympana Stål, 1870 and Neoncotympana Lee, 2010) by the following characteristics: timbals mostly concealed by timbal covers in dorsal view (timbals completely concealed by timbal covers in Oncotympana and Neoncotympana); timbal covers flat (timbal covers prominently globose in Oncotympana and Neoncotympana); uncal lobes not bifurcated (uncal lobes bifurcated in Oncotympana and Neoncotympana).	en	Wang, Siyue, Jiang, Jinyuan, Wei, Cong (2024): A review of the cicada genus Mata Distant, 1906 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) with description of one new species from China. Currently, Mata species lack any barcode records in GenBank. We obtained partial mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences (DNA barcoding) of M. uncinulata sp. nov. and M. kama rec. nov., and submitted them to GenBank. This will be helpful for molecular identification and phylogeny reconstruction of Mata species in the future. Unfortunately, no material of M. lenonia and M. ruffordii is available for the present study, and the extraction of sequences of M. meghalayana rec. nov. and the extraction attempt for M. rama failed. The phylogeny of Mata will be studied further when more sequences are available.	en	Wang, Siyue, Jiang, Jinyuan, Wei, Cong (2024): A review of the cicada genus Mata Distant, 1906 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) with description of one new species from China.
