Li, Phookamsak, Dayarathne & K.D. Hyde, sp. nov.

Notes:— Marinophialophora is described herein as a monotypic genus and typified by M. garethjonesii . The species was collected from decaying wood of mangrove in southern Thailand. This genus is characterized by its mononematous, macronematous conidiophores, aseptate subhyaline conidia and phialidic conidiogenesis without conspicuous collarette and colourless.

Marinophialophora morphologically resembles Phialophora Meldar, Phialomyces Misra & Talbot, Junctospora Minter & Hol. -Jech and Cladophiaphora Borelli. However, Marinophialophora differs from Phialophora in having phialides without a conspicuous collarette, which in Phialophora are very large and conspicuous. The genus differs from Junctospora in having intercalary phialides, as well as terminal phialides, and from Phialomyces due to its integrated conidiogenous cells, which in Phialomyces are discrete. Cladophialophora has holoblastic conidiogenesis.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/039387A14737356672FBFEBA80AAFBF8	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
