The specific epithet is a patronym in honor of Dr. Bradley Sinclair, for his important contribution to the study of  Diptera worldwide.</p><p>Diagnosis. Predominantly yellow. Wing with linear M, or unbranched; cercus very narrow, longer than wide proximally; epandrium wide and suboval; surstylus bifid distally; hypandrium with two short and tapered distoventral projections.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 1). Body length 2.8 mm; wing length 2.1 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 1). Black; clypeus, palpus, and proboscis light yellow; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. Eye black, iridescent, contiguous in middle region of face, with tiny and inconspicuous setae. Frons brown, approximately 2.0X longer than wide, covered with dark yellow to light brown pubescence; occiput with yellowish setae, sparse yellowish-brown pubescence, dense only at the eye margin. Antenna yellowish, except postpedicel slightly paler and stylus brownish when viewed laterally; scape short, about ½ length of pedicel, which is about 2.0X longer than scape; postpedicel about 2.0X longer than its maximum width; stylus longer than postpedicel; scape, pedicel, and postpedicel with tiny, inconspicuous setae. Clypeus with whitish pubescence, palpus with 2–3 distally arranged yellowish setae; labellum with short and dense yellowish setae. Proboscis with short setae located distally.</p><p>Thorax (Fig. 1). Light yellow, except for small brown details in the following areas: i) dorsomedian region of prothorax and ii) anterior to notopleuron. Thorax about 2.0X longer than wide; mesonotum with short, weak scattered setae, except for longer, stronger seta on notopleuron.</p><p>Legs (Fig. 1). Light yellow to yellow. Foreleg with C1 and F1 subequal in length; T1 about half-length of F1; t1 about ¾ shorter than T1. Mid and hind legs with coxae, femora, tibiae, and tarsi subequal in length. F1 with Ff=6/1/17/14+1, black denticles arranged in two parallel linear rows located on distal ⅔, closer to each other distally; bordered by two rows of strong setae. T1 arched ventrally, ventral surface with two rows of black spines (16–17) shaped like thorns; T1 with a strong, thorn-shaped seta located on ventrodistal surface. All legs with short and sparse yellowish to dark yellow setae on coxae and femora, dense on the tibiae and tarsi, except for slightly longer setae distally on C1; T1 with row of setae located on posterodorsal surface of distal ½.</p><p>Wings (Fig. 2). Membrane slightly yellowish, except for a slightly darker region on radial sector, veins yellow; vein R 2+3 long and straight, gently curved towards C distally, ~0.7–0.8 distance between the tips of R 1 and R 4; bifurcation of R 4+5 acute (~70°); M linear, or unbranched (M 2 absent). R 5 and M convergent preapically but divergent distally; cell bm+dm short, terminating at the level of R 1, about 2.0X longer than cell br. Halter whitish-yellow.</p><p>Abdomen (Fig. 1). Long and slender. Tergites brown to dark brown, except for light yellow tergites 1 and 7; distinct setae only on posterior margin. Yellow sternites with light scattered setae, stronger on posterior margin.</p><p>Male terminalia (Figs 3–9). Entirely brown. Cercus very narrow, longer than wide proximally; tapered from about 0.75 to tip and slightly curved downward distally; left and right cerci closely approximated anterodorsally (Fig. 5); cercus distinctly setose externally (Figs 3, 4). Epandrium broad, suboval, distinctly setose; long and strong setae distally (Figs 3, 4). Surstylus broad with distinct setae, bifid distally (Figs 7, 9). Hypandrium subrectangular (Fig. 6) in ventral view, strongly sclerotized, with two short distal projections (Fig. 6); white pubescence, without distinct setae. Gonocoxal apodeme short, narrow, projected beyond anterior margin of hypandrium (Figs 4, 7). Subepandrial sclerite with two tapered posterior projections, resembling spines (Fig. 8). Phallus cylindrical, with slightly thinner distal region and truncated distally; strongly sclerotized, except for membranous area distally; phallus extended beyond the hypandrium distally (Fig. 9). Ejaculatory apodeme absent.</p><p>Female (Figs 10–15). Similar to male. Wing (Fig. 11) with basal area darker than in male. Terminalia (Figs 12–15). Segments 8, 10 and cercus sclerotized (Fig. 13). Tergite 8 with short internal apodeme, located on anterior margin (Fig. 14); tergite 9+10 bifid with almost inconspicuous fissure (Fig. 14). Sternite 8 slightly shorter than tergite 8 (Fig. 15); sternite 10 V-shaped (Fig. 15). Cercus short and sclerotized, rounded and slightly lighter in color distally (Figs 13–15).</p><p>Type material. Hemerodromia bradleyi sp. nov. differs from the other species in having wing vein M linear, or unbranched (M 2 present in all other species). This is the first species described formally in this genus with this specific character.</p><p>Comments. The specific epithet is a noun in apposition and refers to the Gurupi Biological Reserve, where the specimens were collected.</p><p>Diagnosis. Predominantly yellow; cercus triangular, slightly tapered distally in lateral view, and gonocoxal and ejaculatory apodeme medium-sized, almost half of the length of the terminalia.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 16). Body length 3.0 mm; wing length 1.9 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 16). Black; clypeus, palpus and proboscis light yellow; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. Eye shiny black, contiguous in middle facial region, with tiny, very inconspicuous setae. Frons brown, about 2.0X longer than wide, covered with dark yellow to light brown pubescence; occiput with light yellow setae, sparse yellow-brown pubescence, dense only at eye margin. Antenna light yellow, except for lighter postpedicel and stylus with light brown appearance in lateral view; scape short, about ½ length of pedicel, which is about 2.0X longer than scape; postpedicel about 2.0X longer than maximum width; stylus longer than postpedicel; scape, pedicel, and postpedicel with tiny, very inconspicuous setae. Clypeus with whitish pubescence, palpus with 2–3 distally arranged light yellow setae; labellum with short and dense light yellow setae. Proboscis with short setae distally.</p><p>Thorax (Fig. 16). All legs with short and sparse yellowish to dark yellow setae on coxae and femora, dense on tibiae and tarsi, except for slightly longer setae distally on C1, T1 with 1 row of setae located on posterodorsal surface of the distal ½.</p><p>Wing (Fig. 17). Membrane slightly dusky yellow, except for the slightly darker region on radial sector, veins yellow; R 2+3 long and straight, gently curved towards vein C distally, ~ 0.7X the distance between the tip of R 1 and R 4; bifurcation of R 4+5 acute (~70°); distance from the bifurcation of R 4+5 to the bifurcation of M 1+2 about 2.0X length of R 4; vein R 5 about ¾ length of M 1 and nearly as long as M 2. R 5 and M 1 convergent preapically but divergent distally; cell bm + dm short, terminating at level of R 1, about 2.0X longer than cell br. Halter whitish-yellow.</p><p>Abdomen (Fig. 16). Long and slender. Tergites brown to dark brown, except for light yellow tergite 7; distinct setae only on posterior margin. Sternites yellow with light, scattered setae, stronger on posterior margin.</p><p>Male terminalia (Figs 18–24). Entirely brown. Cercus triangular, slightly tapered distally in lateral view (Figs 18, 19, 22); left and right cerci distinctly separated anterodorsally; cercus externally setose (Fig. 22). Narrow epandrium truncated distally; short setae near dorsal margin (Figs 18, 19). Surstylus subquadrate distally (Fig. 22). Hypandrium subtriangular (Fig. 24), sclerotized, with short, sparse setae, in ventral view. Medium-sized gonocoxal apodeme projected beyond anterior margin of hypandrium (Fig. 21). Subepandrial sclerite with rounded anterior projection and medially sinuous posterior process in dorsal view, with setae distally (Fig. 23). Phallus cylindrical, strongly sclerotized, except for membranous area distally, covered with tiny dark spicules, and hook-shaped sclerotized process distally; phallus extended beyond hypandrium distally (Fig. 24). Ejaculatory apodeme medium-sized with laterally flattened unilamellar plate, ⅔ length of gonocoxal apodeme (Figs 18, 19, 24).</p><p>Female. Unknown.</p><p>Type material. Hemerodromia gurupi sp. nov. differs from the other species in having gonocoxal apodeme and ejaculatory apodeme medium-sized, almost half-length of the terminalia (gonocoxal apodeme short or very longer or nearly subequal to length of terminalia and ejaculatory apodeme absent or very long in the other species). The observed characteristics of this species are recorded for the first time and indicate the presence of an intermediate form of the gonocoxal apodeme and the ejaculatory apodeme.</p><p>Comments. The species epithet is a tribute to Joana Gomes de Lima (in memoriam), the grandmother of the first author.</p><p>Diagnosis. Predominantly yellow. Membranous area between segment 8 and terminalia; cercus wider basally, bluntly narrower distally with pointed apex, curved up distally; subepandrial sclerite with rounded anterior projection and a medially subrounded posterior process; hypandrium subtriangular in ventral view; gonocoxal apodeme longer or nearly subequal in length the terminalia.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 25). Body length 2.7 mm; wing length 1.8 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 25). Black; clypeus, palpus, and proboscis light yellow; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. F1 with Ff= 7/18/14/5, black denticles arranged in 2 parallel linear rows, located on distal ⅔, closer to each other distally, bordered by 2 rows of strong setae. T1 ventrally arched, ventral surface with 2 rows of black spine setae (14, 15); T1 with strong spine setae located on ventrodistal surface. All legs with short and sparse light yellow to dark yellow setae on coxae and femora, dense on tibiae and tarsi, except for slightly longer setae distally of C1. T1 with row of setae on posterodorsal surface of distal ½.</p><p>Wing (Fig. 26). Membrane slightly yellowish, except for slightly darker radial sector, veins yellowish; R 2+3 long and straight, gently curved distally towards C, ~ 0.7 distance between tip of R 1 and R 4; bifurcation of R 4+5 acute (~70°); distance from bifurcation of R 4+5 to bifurcation of M 1+2 about 2.0X length of R 4; R 5 about ¾ length of M 1 and subequal in size to M 2. R 5 and M 1 convergent preapically but divergent distally; cell bm+dm short, terminating at level of R 1, about 2.0X longer than cell br. Halter whitish yellow.</p><p>Abdomen (Fig. 25). Long and slender. Tergites brown to dark brown, except for light yellow tergite 7; distinct setae only on posterior margin. Sternites yellow with scattered light setae, stronger on posterior margin. Membranous area as long as tergite 8 between segment 8 and terminalia.</p><p>Male terminalia (Figs 27–33). Cercus wider basally, bluntly narrower distally with pointed apex, curved up distally (Figs 27, 28); left and right cerci distinctly separated anterodorsally and setose (Fig. 29). Epandrium wide at proximal end and narrow distally, with short and dense setae on dorsal margin (Figs 27, 28). Surstylus subsquare with distal setae (Figs 28, 31). Hypandrium subtriangular (Fig. 30) in ventral view, sclerotized, with short sparse setae. Gonocoxal apodeme long, projected beyond anterior margin of hypandrium (Figs 28, 29, 33). Subepandrial sclerite with subrounded anterior projection and medially subrounded posterior process, with distal end setose in dorsal view (Fig. 32). Phallus cylindrical, strongly sclerotized, except for membranous area distally; covered with tiny dark spines; phallus extended beyond distal end of hypandrium (Fig. 33). The species name is a patronym in honor of Professor José Augusto Silva Oliveira for stimulating research and other contributions to the Universidade Estadual do Maranhão.</p><p>Diagnosis. Predominantly yellow. Membranous area between segment 8 and terminalia inflated and longer than length of tergite 8; cercus triangular, slightly tapered distally in lateral view; gonocoxal apodeme prolonged; phallus with a distal membranous area, covered with tiny dark spicules, and distally with sclerotized hook-shaped process.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 34). Body length 2.4 mm; wing length 1.8 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 34). Black; clypeus, palpus and proboscis light yellow; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. Eye black, iridescent, contiguous in middle of face, with tiny, very inconspicuous setulae. Frons brown, about 2.0X longer than wide, covered with dark yellow to light brown pubescence; occiput with light yellow setae, sparse yellowish-brown pubescence, dense only at eye margin. Antenna light yellow, except for paler postpedicel and stylus with light brown appearance in lateral view; scape short, about half-length of pedicel; pedicel about 2.0X longer than scape; postpedicel about 2.0X longer than maximum width; stylus longer than postpedicel; scape, pedicel and postpedicel with tiny, very inconspicuous setae. Clypeus with whitish pubescence; palpus with 2–3 distally arranged light yellow setae; labellum with short, dense pale yellow setae. Proboscis with short setae located distally.</p><p>Thorax (Fig. 34). Pale yellow, except for small brown details in following areas: i) dorsomedial region of prothorax, and ii) anterior to notopleuron. Thorax about 2.0X longer than wide; mesonotum with short, weak and sparse setae, except notopleuron with one longer and stronger seta.</p><p>Legs (Fig. 34). Pale yellow to yellow. Foreleg with C1 about ¼ longer than F1, F1 about ¾ longer than T1, t1 equal in length. Mid and hind legs with coxae, femora, tibiae and tarsi of equal length. F1 with Ff=8/23/16/5+1, black denticles arranged in two parallel linear rows, located on distal ⅔, closer to each other distally, bordered by two rows of strong setae. T1, ventrally arched, ventral surface with two rows of black, spine-like setae (17–18), T1 with strong, spine-like seta located on ventrodistal surface. All legs with short, sparse pale yellow to dark yellow setae on coxae and femora, dense on tibiae and tarsi, except for slightly longer setae distally on C1; T1 with 1 row of setae on posterodorsal surface on distal ½.</p><p>Wing (Fig. 35). Hypandrium subtriangular (Fig. 39), sclerotized with short, scattered setae in ventral view. Gonocoxal apodeme long, projected beyond anterior margin of hypandrium, longer than length of terminalia (Figs 37, 39, 42). Subepandrial sclerite with subquadrate anterior projection and rounded median posterior process, with distal setae in dorsal view (Fig. 41). Cercus narrow proximally and wider distally, with a dorsal concavity distally; subepandrial sclerite bearing tapered anterior projection and digitiform posterior process with thin and long setae; phallus with hook-shaped tip to shaft.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 43). Body length 1.8 mm; wing length 1.4 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 43). Black; clypeus, palpus and proboscis pale yellow; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. Eye black, iridescent, contiguous centrally on face, with tiny, very inconspicuous setae. Membrane slightly yellowish, except slightly darker region on radial sector, veins yellow; R 2+3 long and straight, gently curved distally towards vein C, ~0.7 distance between tip of R 1 and R 4; bifurcation of R 4+5 acute (~70°); distance from bifurcation of R 4+5 to bifurcation of M 1+2 about ¾ length of R 4; R 5 approximately ¾ length of M 1 and nearly as long as M 2. R 5 and M 1 converging preapically but diverging distally; cell bm+dm short, terminating at level of R 1, about 2.0X longer than cell br. Halter whitish yellow.</p><p>Abdomen (Fig. 43). Long and slender. Tergites brown to dark brown, except tergite 7, light yellow; distinct setae only on posterior margin. Sternites yellow with scattered light setae, stronger on posterior margin.</p><p>Male terminalia (Figs45–51).Entirely brown.Cercus narrow proximally and wider distally, concave on posterior margin (Fig. 46); left and right cercus close together anterodorsally and distinctly setose (Fig. 47). Epandrium inflated, wide at proximal end and narrow distally, tapered distally (Figs 46, 48). Surstylus subquadrate, with medial setae becoming strong distally (Figs 49, 50). Hypandrium rectangular (Fig. 49) in ventral view, sclerotized with short, scattered setae. Gonocoxal apodeme short, narrow, projected beyond anterior margin of hypandrium (Fig. 49). Subepandrial sclerite with tapered anterior projection and digitiform posterior process with fine, long setae (Fig. 50). The species epithet is a tribute to Prof. Dr. José Albertino Rafael (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa da Amazônia–INPA) for his important contributions to Brazilian dipterology, especially the family  Empididae .</p><p>Diagnosis. Predominantly yellow. Cercus enlarged with sharp tip, curved upward distally and ventral surface with inner row of strong spines; epandrium triangular with tip truncated distally; subepandrial sclerite with two short, cylindrical posterior processes.</p><p>Holotype ♂ (Fig. 52). Body length 3.5 mm; wing length 2.3 mm.</p><p>Description. Head (Fig. 52). Black; clypeus, palpus and proboscis pale yellow; ocellar triangle with 1 pair of proclinate setae; anterior ocellus larger than posterior ones. Eye shiny black, contiguous centrally on face, with tiny, very inconspicuous setae. Frons brown, about 2.0X longer than wide, covered with dark yellow to pale brown pubescence, with 1 pair of pale yellow setae, same color and nearly as long as facial setae; occiput with pale yellow setae, sparse yellowish-brown pubescence, dense at eye margin. Antenna pale yellow, except paler postpedicel and dark brown appearance of stylus in lateral view; scape short, about half-length of pedicel; pedicel about 2.0X longer than scape; postpedicel about 2.0X longer than maximum width; stylus longer than postpedicel; scape, pedicel and postpedicel with tiny, almost inconspicuous setae. Clypeus with whitish pubescence, palpus with 2–3 pale yellow setae arranged distally; labellum with short, dense pale yellow setae. Proboscis with short distal setae.</p><p>Thorax (Fig. 52). Yellow-orange, with small dotted light brown details; medial-dorsal region of prothorax dark brown to black; thorax about 2.0X longer than wide; mesonotum with sparse, weak and short setae.</p><p>Legs (Fig. 52). Light yellow to yellow. Foreleg with C1 and F1 subequal in length, T1 about ¼ shorter than F1, t1 about ¼ shorter than T1. Middle and hind legs with coxae, femora, tibiae and tarsi equal in length. F1 with Ff = 6/17/15/6, black denticles arranged in two linear parallel rows located on distal ⅔, closer to each other distally; bordered by two rows of strong setae. T1 ventrally arched, ventral surface with two rows of black spiny setae; T1 with strong spiny seta located on ventrodistal surface. All legs with short, sparse yellow to dark yellow setae on coxae and femora, dense on tibiae and tarsi, except slightly longer setae distally on C1; T1 with row of setae located on posterodorsal surface of distal ½.</p><p>Wing (Fig. 53). Membrane slightly yellowish, except slightly darker radial sector, veins yellow; R 2+3 long and straight, gently curved distally towards C, 0.7–0.8X distance between tips of R 1 and R 4; bifurcation of R 4+5 acute (~60°); distance from bifurcation of R 4+5 to bifurcation of M 1+2 about 2.0X length of R 4; R 5 about ¾ length of M 1 and nearly as long as M 2. Long and slender. Tergites 1–6 brown to dark brown, distinct setae only on posterior margin. Tergites 7–8 and sternites yellow; sternites with pale, scattered setae, stronger on posterior margin; tergite 8 shorter than sternite 8.</p><p>Male terminalia (Figs 54–60). Entirely brown. Cercus greatly enlarged, with sharp pointed tip, curved upward with serrated medial surface and row of robust posterior distal spines (Fig. 55); ventral surface with inner row of strong spines, located medially; left and right cercus closely approximated anterodorsally (Fig. 56), setae sparse. Epandrium subshiny, triangular with slightly longer setae near dorsal margin, ¼ distal portion with sparse, almost inconspicuous setae, truncated distally, covered in short setulae (Figs 54–55, 58). Surstylus with spine-like setae distally on inner face (Figs 57, 59). Hypandrium inflated, subtriangular in ventral view, sclerotized, with short, sparse setae; gonocoxal apodeme short, narrow, extended beyond anterior margin of hypandrium (Figs 55, 58, 60). Subepandrial sclerite with two short, cylindrical posterior processes resembling fingers, with tuft of long, strong setae distally (Figs 59, 60). Phallus cylindrical, strongly sclerotized, except membranous distal area, covered with tiny dark spines; phallus extending beyond distal portion of hypandrium (Fig. 60). A black species with yellowish-white legs, except for the anterior trochanter and femur, brownish (Fig. 61). Head round; cercus very short, shorter than length of epandrium (Fig. 64); epandrium narrower apically, with median row of thorn-shaped setae on the inner surface (Figs 65, 66).</p><p>Description. Female (Figs 69–74). Specimens collected together with male of this species, in good condition and with same color pattern as male, is herein associated with the male. Similar to male.
