Aureoboletellorum) Klofac

Genus Aureoboletus Pouzar sect. Aureoboletellorum Klofac sectio nova

Mycobank no.: 859317

Diagnosis: species of this section differ from species of sect. Aureoboletus mainly by the ornamented spores (longitudinally ribbed basidiospores). The new section is supported by its separate position in previous phylogenetic analysis (see Wu et al. 2016, Zhang M. et al. 2019, Zeng et al. 2015)

Typespecies: Boletus longicollis Ces., Atti della Regia Accademia delle Scienze Fisiche e Matematiche di Napoli 8(3): 4 (1879)

≡ Suillus longicollis (Ces.) Kuntze, Revisio generum plantarum 3(3): 535 (1898)

≡ Boletellus longicollis (Ces.) Pegler & T. W. K. Young, Transactions of the British Mycological Society 76(1): 115 (1981)

Additional species in the subgenus are: A. singeri (Gonz.-Velázq. & R. Valenz.) Har. Takah. & Taneyama and A. viscosus (C.S. Bi & Loh) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang (the latter already suspected to be a synonym of A. longicollis) (Zhang M. et al. 2019). Note: A. russellii (Frost) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang could be assigned to the subgenus Magnisporiboletus in relation to the gross morphology, but also because of the large spores.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03A4D94DFFAF5410FF14EA3556D70981	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. [as ‘ singerii’], Mycotaxon 55: 400 (1995)

Aureoboletus singeri resembles Aureoboletus viscosus and A. longicollis in having velar remnants at pileus margin, viscid pileus surface, and similar colors (Halling & Ortiz-Santana 2009). However, Halling et al. (2015) proved that A. singeri still belongs to Boletellus and is separated from members of Aureoboletus . However, the assignment of this species to Aureoboletus in the phylogenetic tree of Kuo & Ortiz-Santana (2020) and Ayala-Vásquez et al. (2023) seems quite plausible.

Aureoboletus elvirae Ayala-Vásquez, García-Jiménez & de la Fuente, based on a single specimen, is presently keyed out. It should also be pointed out that according to MycoBank the name status of this species is invalid Art. F.5.1 (Shenzhen)

Aureoboletus abruptibulbus (Roody, Both & B. Ortiz) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang is undoubtedly to be settled by molecular genetic comparison on the edge of the genus Aureoboletus and probably not to be regarded as a typical representative of this genus.

Aureoboletus shichianus (Teng & L. Ling) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang, similarly to the previous species, is completely isolated not only macroscopically (pores, habitus) but also microscopically (spore ornamentation).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03A4D94DFFA4541BFF14E82651B30E26	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
