Dichotomius interstitialis (Luederwaldt)
Luederwaldt (1931) proposed that D. interstitialis be placed in its own species group. After examining the holotype (located in the MZSP) and scrutinizing the original description, where the author compares it to the D. carbonarius species group, we place this species in the D. carbonarius species group based on the following characters: the elytra with microsculpture (Fig. 2 I); the cephalic carina with two tubercles; the pronotum without horns, tubercles, or knobs; the metatibial spur not bifurcated; and the body shape very similar to other species of this species group.
