Diuncus taichuensis (Schedl 1952b) comb. n.
Previous genus: Xyleborus
Discussion. A specimen labeled " Xyleborus taichuensis n. sp. MS Type Eggers" is deposited in USNM. It is not mentioned by Anderson & Anderson (1971). Wood & Bright (1992) indicate the existence of Xyleborus taichuensis Schedl 1952 . A representative of Schedl's species was not available for examination. The validity and identity of X. taichuensis remains uncertain. The manuscript type of X. taichuensis Eggers in USNM is nearly destroyed - it lack limbs, antennae and is mounted in over-abundance of glue. The elytral declivity, which is the only available body part with informative characters, appears to be of the same type as in Diuncus haberkorni: the spines in 2nd and 3rd interstriae are conical, not pointed, the ones in interstriae 3 positioned lower on the declivity.
Examined material: Taiwan, Taichu, (USNM), manuscript type.
