Distribution. Eastern Cape (Port Alfred) to Namibia (Luderitz); intertidal.
Notes. Records from Mauritius (Martens 1880) and the Seychelles (Jarrett 2000) are erroneous (probably based on mislocalised specimens). Tricolia munieri Vélain, 1876, from Île S t -Paul, is very similar and may prove to be a synonym. The taxon Chromotis H. Adams & A. Adams, 1863, of which Phasianella neritina Dunker, 1846 is the type species, is not genetically distinct from Tricolia (Nangammbi et al. in press).
