SUPERFAMILY: TROCHOIDEA Rafinesque, 1815

Barnard (1963a) described Rufanula sextula gen. et sp. nov. from Algoa Bay and referred it to the Liotiidae . No living material of this species has been obtained and its affinities remain enigmatic. It is superficially similar to Bichoristes McLean, 1992 [ Lepetellidae: Choristellinae] and to species of Pseudomalaxis P. Fischer, 1885 [ Architectonicidae], as well as to the fossil genus Neamphitomaria Bandel, 1988 [? Omalogyridae / Architectonicoidea] (Warén pers. comm. viii/2015).
