Remarks. The species is polytypic, but the number of valid subspecies is controversial, depending on the authors (cf. Beinhundner 2017b and Schoolmeesters 2019). This subspecies sometimes is treated as a valid species (Holm 1994; Krajcik 2008a; Mudge et al. 2012), or as a subspecies of C. (P.) cinctuta (Voet, 1779) (e.g. Allard 1991; Camiade 2015; Beinhundner 2017b). Ecological data (e.g. abundance, habitat preference) were provided for GHA by Mudge et al. (2012) and Joly (2018).The larvae of C. (Plaesiorrhinella) plana (Wiedemann, 1821) [sub Plaesiorrhina recurva plana] was described by Donaldson (1987). Biological and ecological data were provided for this species by Donaldson (1987), Donaldson & van Todner (1992) and Holm & Marais (1992). Malec & Šípek (2017) included it in their group 2 of artificial breeding conditions.
