Chasmocranus brachynema Gomes & Schubart 1958: 413, figs. 1–3.
Holotype: EEBP 617, 128.3 mm SL(Figure 8): Brazil, S„o Paulo, Pirassununga, Mogi-Guaçu River at Emas waterfall, tributary of Grande River, tributary of the Paraná River, ~ 21°55′35″S, 47°22′3″W, ~ 545m asl, 24 Dec 1956.
Remarks. While searching the collection, we did not find the holotype, but a note among Godoy’s files indicating that the holotype was transferred from EEBP to the MHNP along with type specimens of other species. Thus, we concluded that someone must have taken it from MHNP. After some research, we discovered its whereabouts: the specimen was borrowed by a researcher at MZUSP, which continues to house it as of the publication of the present paper.
