Material examined. GABON: 1 male, Ivindo National Park, Ipassa Research Station, 7.5 km SW of Makokou, ca. 530m, edge of primary rainforest, 0˚30’41.7’’N, 12˚48’8.3’’E, 26–27.vi.2016, light trap, T . Karisch leg., gen. prep. No.: AV6481 (CKDT); 1 male, Ipassa, 500m, 0°30’43’’N, 12°48’13’’E, 5–10.iv.2010, at sheet with 500W blended light lamp, in a clearing in degraded primary forest, Durante leg. ; 2 males, the same locality and collector, 19.ii.–11.iii.2011; 1 male, the same locality and collector, 14–24.iii.2015, gen. prep. No.: 962 MAD (prepared by Durante); 1 male, the same locality, 14–25.vi.2016, Durante & Fasiello leg. (MAD) .
Additional material examined. A series of specimens of both sexes from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa (ANHRT, MWM / ZSM, NHMUK & ZSM).
Remark. The species significantly varies in its size, the forewing width and the size of the black spots on the forewing. The specimens from Gabon (Fig. 12) display minor differences in vesica from the populations in eastern and southern Africa (Figs 13, 14) but clarification of their status requires further molecular studies.
Distribution. Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa (Karisch 2010, 2013) and Gabon (new record).
