♣ Paratanais sp.

Material examined. TA: 14. CNCR 35350. Tr-Loc: Madagascar, Yucatan, Mexico, 21°26’30.12’’N 90°17’25.9’’W, 14 individuals, 29 May 2012, coll. GR, IW, MA, UP, collected at 15 m depth. These specimens were collected in sponges such as A. crassa and M. laxissima, cnidaria such as P. guadalupensis, coral rubble. The abundance of females and males was not recorded for this species.

Geographical distribution. Atlantic Ocean: Port Everglades, Florida; GoM: Florida Keys (Long Key), Tampa Bay, Florida , Tuxpan-Lobos Protected Natural Area; Caribbean Sea: Puerto Morelos Reef National Park, Mahahual, Quintana Roo .

Recognition characters. First article of antennule swollen in both sexes. Female: antennule with four articles; first four pleonites with plumose setae on lateral margin; uropodal endopod with two articles. Male: small body; with large eyes; pereonites and pleonites about same size and appearance; uropodal endopod with two articles.

Remarks. This species occurs in sponges such as A. crassa, A. compressa, C. nucula, I. felix, associated with live bottom habitats, coral rubble, sand seagrass, at depths of 1 to 12 m.
