TYPE LOCALITY: Madagascar .

DISTRIBUTION: Madagascar, C plateau.

SYNONYMS: acanthurus, fontoynonti, nigrescens, spinosus.

COMMENTS: Dasogale fontoynonti was based on a juvenile Setifer setosus, see Poduschka and Poduschka (1982:253) and MacPhee (1987b:133).
