Genus Ferovisenda Mamaev, 1972
Ferovisenda — Mamaev 1972: 114. Type species, pigrum Mamaev, by original designation.
In his description of Ferovisenda Mamaev (1972) referred to the similarity of this genus to Diallactes (valid name Diallactia), which is misleading. The notes I made on the male holotype of F. pigrum, examined in 2012, make clear that Ferovisenda is actually extremely similar to Gynapteromyia . The only reasons why I hesitate to synonymize the two names are the eye bridge, which in F. pigrum is 4–5 ommatidia long dorsally, thus slightly longer than usual in Gynapteromyia, and the tegmen, which has a subtriangular apex and substructures that I am unable to resolve. However, I would not rule out the possibility that a re-examination of the types of F. pigrum now, with a deeper understanding of Diallactiini characters, would arrive at the conclusion that this species is just a slightly aberrant Gynapteromyia .
