Phortica (Allophortica) sexpunctata (Séguy)

(Figs 1–2)

Drosophila sexpunctata Séguy 1938: 352 .

Specimens examined. 2ɗ, Kakamega equatorial forest, KENYA, 11–23.x.2002, S. Prigent.

Diagnosis. Paramere (outer paraphysis) deeply bifurcated from base, pointed on each apical parts: anterior branch shorter, expanded submedially; posterior branch submedially with 2 acute projections (Fig. 2); aedeagal median rod well expanded distally, with 2 pairs of acute projections medially and laterally (Fig. 2).

Description. (Supplementary) Male terminalia: Epandrium nearly entirely pubescent, with 4 setae near posterior margin on each body-side (Fig. 1). Surstylus with dense pubescence, and approximately slender 20 prensisetae on inner margin (Fig. 1). Sternite X (decasternum) absent. Hypandrium without lobe-like processes posterolaterally. Vertical process of gonopods with 2 pairs of small projections submedially and laterally (Fig. 2). Outer membranous tube of aedeagus developed (Fig. 2).

Measurements. BL = 2.70–2.73 mm (range in 2ɗ specimens); ThL = 1.26–1.30 mm; WL = 2.48–2.50 mm; WW = 1.20–1.25 mm. Indices: arb = 4–5/3–4, avd = 0.80–0.83, adf = 1.37–1.40, flw = 1.45–1.50, FW/ HW = 0.40–0.45, ch/o = 0.06–0.07, prorb = 0.98–1.07, rcorb = 0.80–0.85, vb = 0.20–0.23, dcl = 0.60–0.63, presctl = 0.65–0.68, sctl = 1.00, sterno = 1.00, orbito = 1.85–1.90, dcp = 0.24–0.25, sctlp = 1.20–1.24, C = 2.08–2.15, 4c = 1.25–1.34, 4v = 2.20–2.43, 5x = 0.91–1.09, ac = 2.50–2.67, M = 0.55–0.67, C3F = 0.60–0.73.

Distribution. Kenya.

Remarks. This species certainly belongs to subgenus Allophortica, because it is very similar to P. (A.) vumbae (Tsacas, 1990) in the surstylus with numerous prensisetae, paramere lacking sensilla and the aedeagal apodeme very strong, but can be distinguished from it by the paramere and aedeagal median rod (in vumbae: paramere slightly bifurcated apically; aedeagal median rod apically not expanded, without any projections).
