Phaneroptera nigropunctata Chopard, 1955

Diagnostic remarks. A small, nondescript katydid (Fig. 25F), very similar to P. sparsa but distinguishable by more slender and more incurved cerci in the male (Fig. 25E). The stridulatory area of the tegmina also appears darker than in other species of the genus (Fig. 25D).

Bioacoustics. The call of P. nigropunctata is unknown.

Distribution and natural history. This species has previously only been recorded from South Africa (Chopard 1955b) and Lesotho (Ragge 1956a), this is the first record of its occurrence in Mozambique.
