Remarks. Sternacutus is a very problematic genus including species with very distinct features such as, for example, body stout or slender, humeral carina present or absent, and very variable shape, length, and position of the lateral tubercles of the prothorax. In fact, some species appear to be better included in Lophopoeum Bates, 1863, but others appear to belong to other genera, known or undescribed. However, due to the general appearance of other species currently included in Sternacutus, we are provisionally describing the new species in this genus, despite not having a distinct humeral carina, as in the type species of the genus.
