Type locality and habitat. Lido de Venezia, Italy, under stones washed by salt water in a lagoon. Note. In the original description, the name of this species was spelled Gamasus litoralis . G. & R. Canestrini (1882) changed it to Gamasus littoralis, and all subsequent publications on the species have used the changed spelling. We therefore retain the spelling H. littoralis in the interests of stability.
