Genus Camptomyia Kieffer, 1894

With 71 extant species, Camptomyia is the largest genus of the Asynaptini (Gagné & Jaschhof 2021) . While the remarkable diversity evident in the male terminalia has been used extensively to distinguish species, it proved too confusing to be applied for establishing a sound subgeneric classification (Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2019). Two new Camptomyia species (described herein) represent new records of the genus from the Afrotropical Region. Male morphology suggests that both are only distantly related to one another and neither appears to be particularly closely affiliated to Camptomyia species occurring in the Palearctic Region. The described Oriental (mostly Indian) species of the genus (Gagné & Jaschhof 2021) are too poorly known for comparison and interpretation.
