Estheria alticola Mesnil, 1967: 55 . Type locality: Hissar Mts nr Dushanbe (Tajikstan). Holotype ♂ and two female paratypes (ZIN) not examined. References: Herting (1984: 142; Palearctic catalog); Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 363; Palearctic catalog).
Diagnosis. From the original description. Frons of male less than 1/10 of head width; prementum 6 times as long as wide; three strongest postpronotal setae nearly arranged in a triangle; 3 presutural and 3 postsutural dorsocentral setae; lower calypter with short hairs; mid tibia with 1 anterodorsal seta.
Distribution. Tajikstan.
Remarks. This species appears to be similar to E. cristata (Meigen), but differs from the latter by arista long plumose, three strongest postpronotal setae nearly arranged in a triangle, and mid tibia only with 1 anterodorsal seta.
