Genus Carlopeltis Verhoeff, 1938

Carlopeltis Verhoeff, 1938: 3 .

Type species: Alocodesmus alatus Carl, 1914, by monotypy.

Diagnosis: A batodesminine genus belongs to the Alocodesmus group by the absence of body modifications such as: evident epicranial processes; collum modified, elongated to the sides, or directed upwards; prominent convexities on antennae; ornamentation of the metazonite very tuberculated, setose, with the presence of spines; modified paranota with prominent denticulations and striae; ozopores located in highly developed and thickened peritremata. By gonopodal characteristics, Carloperlis differs from other genera by the presence of a field of numerous long setae on the dorsal side of gonocoxae (vs. absence in Cordilleronomus Attems, 1931), absence of tibiotarsal branch (vs. presence in Alocodesmus, Heteropeltis Carl, 1914, and Dioparyphe Hoffman, 1969), and by the prefemoral process is bifid o with annex brach like a secondary process of the prefemoral process (vs. prefemoral process trifid in Alocodesmus and simplex in Cordilleronomus and Cheirogonus Hoffman, 1982).
