Type:— Type: PERU. Cajamarca: San Ignacio, Huarango, trocha de Ozurco a Nuevo Mundo, -5.2417, -78.7208, 1750 m, 11 Oct 2017, G. Calatayud 6076 (holotype: USM! ; isotypes: CUZ! HOXA!)

Etymology: —Conserved meaning: “very thankful”.

Notes: — Cyathea gratissima is a remarkably slender, gracile, pinnate-pinnatisect, exindusiate tree fern in the Cyathea bipinnatifida (Baker) Domin species group. It is so far known only from three localities in the understory of wet scrub and stunted forest over sandstone at middle elevations in the middle Marañón river valley, Amotape-Huancabamba Zone (Weigend, 2002), northern Peru.
