Diagnosis. Barnard and Thomas, 1984, p. 871. Emendation to diagnosis: ‘Palp of maxilla 1 of single article’.

Remarks. The 1-articulate palp of maxilla 1 (Fig. 19 mx1 plp) is so far a defining character of Borneoecetes vis vis all other Bubocorophiina in which the palp is composed of 2 articles (cf. Fig. 23 mx1 plp). Barnard and Thomas (1984) did not mention this critical character in their diagnosis of the new genus. The 1–articulate palp of maxilla 1 was mentioned only in the wider description of the type species Borneoecetes wongi .

Barnard and Thomas (1984) stated about the type-species Borneoecetes wongi “Body delicate, fragile, unpigmented in alcohol”. This is true also of all specimens of the new species described below.
