Diagnosis. Recognized by the following combination of characters: relatively large body size (5.8–7.0), coloration pale (Figs. 3–4, 37–38), first antennal segment relatively long, 0.6–0.8 × as long as width of head, right paramere with extension at base (Figs. 110–112), interramal lobes with almost flat apex (Fig. 174). Most similar to P. putoni and P. lindbergi but differs in the larger body size and longer appendages.

Redescription. Male. Relatively large, 5.8–6.9. COLORATION. Head: uniformly yellow, antenna pale brown (Fig. 37). Thorax: pronotum and exposed part of mesonotum yellow; rarely mesonotum with two weakly expressed black parallel lines; scuto-scutellar suture usually dark brown; meso- and metapleura yellow. Hemelytron: uniformly greenish yellow. Legs: yellow to pale brown, third tarsal segment darker, pale brown to brown. Abdomen: dorsally brown to black, ventrally yellow. SURFACE AND VESTITURE. Mesial stiff setae on first antennal segment present; simple setae on antenna brown. STRUCTURE. Head: posterior margin slightly concave; vertex 0.97–1.15 × as wide as eye; first antennal segment almost twice as wide as second and 0.60–0.65 × as long as width of the head; second antennal segment 1.88–2.07 × as long as width of head and 1.67–1.86 × as long as width of pronotum. Thorax: pronotum with slightly concave anterior margin and straight posterior margin, 1.61– 1.91 × as wide as long. Hemelytron: cuneus nearly 2.5 × as long as wide. Legs: third tarsal segment nearly equal in length to first and second combined; pulvillus relatively short, not reaching midpoint of claw (Fig. 195). GENITALIA. Genital segment with spines on ventral side near apex (Fig. 75); left paramere as in Fig. 86; right paramere with extension at base (Figs. 110–112); aedeagus as in Fig. 152.

Female. Middle-sized, 6.0–7.0. COLORATION, SURFACE, AND VESTITURE. As in male. STRUCTURE. Similar to male except larger interocular distance, vertex 2.20–2.31 × as wide as eye, and shorter labium reaching only forecoxa; first antennal segment 0.71–0.81 × as long as width of head; second antennal segment 2.04–2.11 × as long as width of head and 1.68–1.90 × as long as width of pronotum; pronotum 1.52–1.84 × as wide as long. GENITALIA. Interramal lobes apically flattened (Fig. 174); sclerotized rings as in Fig. 159.

Distribution. So far known exclusively from the type locality, Etna Mt., Sicilia, Italy (Fig. 58).

Host associations. According to Wagner (1960, 1974), the host plant is Genista aetnensis (Bivona-Bernardi) de Candolle; however, the exact Genista species has not been specified on the host labels of specimens from the type series.
