WAHNES’S PAROTIA Parotia wahnesi Uncommon:ȱheardȱfiveȱtimesȱbetweenȱ1,495ȱandȱ1,660ȱm.ȱItsȱvocalisationsȱareȱaȱmedleyȱofȱ staccato clucks; short harsh notes are repeated at half-second intervals, like the sound made by striking a hollow log; other unusual sounds; and clear notes. Well known to Munggur villagers and named ‘kakopelima’. We found no display courts, probably because villagers reportedȱthatȱtheseȱareȱsitedȱinȱgulliesȱratherȱthanȱonȱtheȱridge.ȱPreviouslyȱreportedȱbyȱPrattȱ (1982).
