Genus Phortica Schiner

Phortica Schiner, 1862: 433; Máca, 2003: 251 (revised status); Cao et al., 2011: 682. Type species: Drosophila variegata Fallén, 1823 .

Diagnosis. Ocellar triangle with a pair of small setae below ocellars; proclinate orbital seta nearer to inner vertical seta than to ptilinal fissure; palpus slightly triangular, with a hollow sense organ; thorax variegated, yellow to orange brown, usually with grayish brown to black patches and pollinose pattern; subscutellum protruded (Cao et al., 2011).
