Type species: Bdellorhynchus polymorphus Trouessart & Mégnin, 1884c: 50, by monotypy (in Trouessart 1885b, Trouessart & Mégnin 1885a).

Notes: Gaud & Atyeo (1996a: 170) referred to the new generic names proposed in Trouessart & Mégnin (1884b: 156) and Mégnin & Trouessart (1884a: 138) as nomina nuda. In both papers, the genus Bdellorhynchus is diagnosed in a key to genera, so it is not a nomen nudum for that reason. It lacks a type species there, but new genera proposed before 1930 were not required to have a type species (ICZN Article 13.3).
