Host and locality in Australia: House dust, multiple localities (Colloff 2009: 421–422).

Current name of host: None.

Notes. Fain (1966b) drew attention to the taxonomic and nomenclatural ambiguity surrounding the names Paralges pteronyssoides Trouessart, 1887, Mealia pteronyssina Trouessart, 1897, and Dermatophagoides scheremetevskyi Bogdanov, 1864 . Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Trouessart, 1897) is not the oldest available name for this species, but I use it as valid here to conform with overwhelming prevailing usage, as recommended by Colloff (2009) and many other authors.
