Remarks. 1. In the original description, Walker (1862) did not mention a number of specimens, therefore the existence of syntypes is probable. To avoid any confusion, here we designate the female type specimen deposited in the OUMNH collection as lectotype. 2. Holloway (2001) and Volynkin (2018) erroneously illustrated the female genitalia of an undetermined Miltochrista species as those of B. hypoprepioides .

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 10–11 mm in males and 12.5–14 mm in females. Barsine hypoprepioides is similar externally to B. dubatolovi sp. n., B. syntypicoida sp. n. and B. syntypica, but differ by its slightly more yellowish wing coloration, antemedial and medial lines not interrupted and the presence of a medial transverse line on hindwing. The male genitalia of B. hypoprepioides resemble those of B. dubatolovi sp. n., but differ by their vinculum being tapered apically (that is pointed apically in B. dubatolovi sp. n.), smaller medial costal process, much larger, claw-like distal costal process, more robust distal saccular process being stronger curved dorsally, aedeagus being broader distally, and much smaller vesica. The female genitalia of B. hypoprepioides differ from those of B. dubatolovi sp. n. by the much longer antrum having large postero-lateral lobes, smaller corpus bursae and much shorter, membranous appendix bursae (that is longer and armed with spinulose scobination in B. dubatolovi sp. n.).

Distribution. Malaysia (Borneo Isl.) (Holloway 2001) and Indonesia (Sumatra Isl.).
