Type material examined. Holotype: ♂, Myanmar (Burma), 50 km E Putao, env. Nan Thi village, 950 m, 11.– 16.V.1998, leg. Murzin & Sinjaev (Coll. MWM/ ZSM) . Paratypes: 13 ♂, 35 ♀, same data as in the holotype, slides MWM 31749 (♂), MWM 31750 (♀) Volynkin (Colls MWM/ ZSM & CKC) .

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 12.5–13 mm in males and 14.5–15 mm in females. This unmistakable species differs from other relatives by its bright yellow coloration and blackish subterminal area of hindwing. The male genitalia of B. melanovena are similar to those of B. mene sp. n., B. syntypicoida sp. n. and B. syntypica, but differ by the trigonal and straight medial costal process (that is stronger narrowed distally and slightly curved in other three species), the slightly more robust distal costal process, and the trigonal distal saccular process directed distally-ventrally (that is claw-like curved and directed distally in B. mene sp. n., B. syntypicoida sp. n. and B. syntypica). The female genitalia differ clearly from those of other relatives by their broad, wineglass-shaped antrum.

Distribution. North Myanmar (Kachin) (Černý 2016).
