Type material. Male holotype and female paratype from Lavras, -21.24573°, -44.99978°, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Jun. 15-20, 2000, deposited in IBSP 86344 PBI_ OON 25682 and IBSP 86334 PBI_ OON 25683, respectively.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality. It is to be treated as a noun in apposition.

Diagnosis. Males differ from all other species of the group by the deeply incised tip of the conductor (Fig. 20G); females are similar to those of C. chicote sp. nov. by the shape of the internal genitalia with broad and rounded anterior areae narrow and triangular lateral apodemes and rounded receptaculum (Figs 19I, 22F); the species differ from the last by the lateral apodems being uniformly narrowed distally and by the abdomen with proportionally longer postepigastric scutum (Figs 19B, 22B).

Description. Male (PBI _OON 25682). Total Length: 1.40. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace dark red-brown, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica granulate, sides granulate; lateral margin without denticles. Clypeus curved downwards in front view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, less than ALE diameter. Eyes relatively large, all subequal; ALE separated by more than their diameter, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum orangebrown, fused to carapace, furrow with rows of small pits, surface finely punctuate, microsculpture covering entire surface, anterior margin with continuous transverse groove, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, very large row of pits at furrows; setae originating from surface. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium dark red-brown. Chelicerae anterior face unmodified; retromargin without teeth; fangs without tooth-like projections; paturon inner margin with brush, laminate groove absent. Labium anterior margin indented at middle. Endites anteromedian part forming a groove between serrula and the apical portion. ABDOMEN: rounded posteriorly; dorsum soft portions pale white. Pedicel scuto-pedicel region with paired curved scutal ridges, plumose setae absent, ridge double, dorsal one larger. Dorsal scutum dark red-brown, middle surface punctate, sides punctate. Epigastric scu- tum: anterior spiracles secondary openings at level of epigastric furrow under a fold, inconspicuous. Postepigastric scutum dark red-brown, long, semicircular, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum large. LEGS: orange-brown. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore oval, situated in front of anterior spiracles, rebordered. Palp proximal segments orange-brown. Conductor subquadrate tip (Fig. 20G). Embolar tip with short embolar distal process, embolar prolateral process with translucent undulate dorsal area, broader, subdistally (fig. 20G).

Female (PBI _OON 25683). Total Length: 1.57. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Mouth- parts: paturon inner margin with short inter-digitating setae. GENITALIA: internal genitalia general shape domed (Fig. 22F).

Distribution. This species is only know from the type locality in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
