Teucer imbecillus Zerny, 1931a: 248 . Holotype female [by monotypy]: [BRAZIL, Pará, Santarém], Taperinha, xii.1923 (Hagmann); with two labels: printed label “Taperinha b. Santarem G. Hagmann” with handwritten date on underside “ xii.1923 ”, and handwritten label “ Teucer imbecillus Zerny ♀ type ”.

Current combination. Ecdemus imbecillus (Zerny, 1931) comb. nov.

Condition of the type. Wings slightly rubbed, some scales missing on dorsal part of abdomen.

Remarks. Teucer Kirby, 1892 is an unnecessary replacement name for Telioneura Felder, 1874 (erected because of Telejoneura Rondani, 1864, Diptera). Therefore, the valid combination for this name would be Telioneura imbecillus . However, as mentioned in the original description, this species is indeed close to T. carmania (Druce, 1883), which was recently transferred to Ecdemus Herrich-Schäffer, [1855] (Pinheiro & Duarte 2013). Hence the transfer of Teucer imbecillus to Ecdemus .
