Subgenus Brachitrichomyia Bravo & Araújo

Type species: Trichomyia inermis Barretto, 1954, by original designation.
Comments. Males of Brachitrichomyia are recognized because the gonocoxites are projected dorsally, each one with elongated posterior arm, 1.0–3.5 times the length of ejaculatory apodeme; projections in the aedeagal complex curved and joined at apex. The subgenus Brachitrichomyia was proposed for grouping seven species from Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil and Panama.
