Demaorchestia mie sp. nov.

Types. Holotype male NHMD-873662. Paratypes, 1 female, NHMD-876532, 21 males and females, NHMD- 876533.
Type locality. Mie prefecture (central Japan, about 35°N 136°E), on the coast .
Ecological type. Beach-hoppers or marsh-hoppers.
Habitat. Sandy beaches.
Size. Unknown.
Etymology. Named for the Mie prefecture in central Japan.
Diagnosis. Based on Stephensen (1945).
Gnathopod 2 dactylus pinched apically. Pereopod 7 basis posterodistal lobe absent. Epimera posterior margins strongly serrate.
Remarks. Demaorchestia mie is a distinctive species separated from other species of Demaorchestia by the pinched dactylus of male gnathopod 2 and the strongly serrate posterior margin of epimeron 3.
