Airosimus Howden, 1966
(figures 9, 11, 12)
This genus has 19 species of which only two are represented in Mexico (Howden 1993b). Species of Pandeleteius (Exmenetypus) seem to be related and could be erroneously identified as Airosimus, because they share characteristics in the apex of the rostrum and some species have a rudimentary semi-enclosed corbel (here termed as false corbel, Howden 1974, 1976). Nevertheless, the Mexican Pandeleteius (Exmenetypus) can be separated from Airo- simus as in the key. The phylogenetic relationships among these groups need to be discussed. See Howden (1993b) to separate the Mexican species.
