(3.8) Candolleomyces typhae complex

Notes:— In the ITS-only phylogeny (Fig. 4B), one collection of ours gathered on Musa sp. and one collection labeled as Candolleomyces typhae established a distinct monophyletic group with low internal variation by significant support, but it was uncertain whether they should be recognized as a single species based on the recent scale of species delimitation within Candolleomyces in academia. In the four-locus phylogeny (Fig. 4A), only the collection labeled as Cd. typhae with complete four-locus data was analysed for this group, and it formed a distinct, independent clade. This group is referred to as Candolleomyces typhae complex in this study, characterized by small basidiomata with a herbicolous habit.

Legitimately proposed species recognized in this complex:— Cd. typhae (Kalchbr.) D. Wächt. & A. Melzer (2020) .

Collection sequenced in this study:— China, Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, elevation 20 m, 2024, Kun L. Yang & Hai-Feng Wu, K24020 (HTBM1875) .
