3. Vriesea Lindl.

This is the third-largest genus of Tillandsioideae . Vriesea occurs mainly in eastern Brazil, although some species occur in Bolivia, Argentina, and Paraguay, extending from the northern Andes and Amazon to the Greater Antilles. The genus encompasses 213 species (Gouda et al. [cont. updated]) including the realignments proposed here.
