Notes. Emery (1925b) described B. syrius turcomenicus based on one worker and one ergatogyne collected by N. Kuznezov in Turkmenistan (Merv—now Mary; Bagir—now territory of Ashkhabad). However, in Karawajew’s collection we found three more workers with the labels “Асхабад, / Багиръ / 27.IV.1923 / Н. КуЗнецов” [Ashkhabad, Bagir N. Kusnezov] and “ Bothriomyrmex / syrius v. turke- / stanica Em. / in. litt. typus ”. They almost certainly belong to the nest one of the two series of B. turcomenicus and based on Recommendation 72B of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999), we conclude these specimens are part of the type series.
