Comments. Caenis fittkaui can be differentiated from other species of Caenis by the following characteristics: apex of forceps sharp and directed posteriorly, lobes of penis fused, forming a rounded apex and with small tubercles distributed on the ventral surface (adapted from Malzacher 1986). The specimens studied did not show any morphological variation when compared with the original description of C. fittkaui .
