Type species. Lysianax cubensis Stebbing, 1897, selected by Lowry & Stoddart, 1989.

Composition. The genus Shoemakerella includes five species: S. barnardi Lowry & Stoddart, 2009; S. cubensis (Stebbing, 1897); S. lowryi Gable & Lazo-Wasem, 1990; S. subchelata Sorrentino, Senna & Lowry, 2014; and S. ungulata sp. nov.
