Orobainosoma (Orobainosoma) inflatum Verhoeff, 1907

Orobainosoma flavescens— Attems (1929) (misidentification)

Orobainosoma inflatum var. aspidiorum Verhoeff, 1929 syn. nov.

Diagnosis. Differs from the other congeners, except H. faucium, H. filicis and H. gruberi sp. nov., by the presence of bilobed posterior lamella on angiocoxites. From these three species, it differs by the presence of hand-like mesal process with distal teeth (vs. saw-like mesal process in H. faucium and H. filicis or simple mesal process without teeth in H. gruberi sp. nov.)

Type locality. Kočevje in Slovenia .

Comments. Since the gonopod structures mounted in the slide preparations from ZMB collection do not correspond to the drawings of the original description of the species we preferred to chose a lectotype from the well preserved and complete type specimens housed in the NHMW.

Verhoeff (1929) described Orobainosoma inflatum var. aspidiorum from Bruck an der Mur and Leoben. How- ever, the differences between this variety and the nominal species are minimal, consisting only in the presence of a small triangular tooth (medial branch?) on the coxal process of the posterior gonopods in aspidiorum, therefore we prefer to consider the latter as a junior subjective synonym of H. inflata .

Attems (1929: 318) stated localities Belatal, Železnica, Tužno and Jalžabet as new localities for Orobainosoma flavescens . However, a look at Attems catalogue in NHMW (Fig. 10) of Craspedosoma / Orobainosoma flavescens revealed that he actually crossed these localities out after the publication (Attems 1929). Next to some of them he wrote “ inflatum ”, recognizing he misidentified this species with H. flavescens . Later, Attems correctly identified these specimens and designated them as “ Orobainosoma inflatum ” in the NHMW material. As stated above, the record of O. flavescens from near Maribor by Attems (1949) is probably erroneous, due to the misidentification of H. inflata . Now, we consider these localities as a part of the distribution area of Haasea inflata .

Kurnik (1988) erroneously stated “ Bosnien; Belatal” for H. inflata . The locality Belatal (= Dolina Bele, near Vidovec) is in Croatia. H. inflata does not occur in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
