Material examined. Holotype female, “German SW Africa” (ZMHB).

Shenefelt (1976) questioned whether the description of B. rufa by Cameron 1911 was of a new species or whether it was a redescription of Bacuma rufa Cameron 1909 Arch Nath Naturg 30:26.
