Bactrodes femoratus (Fabricius, 1803)
Bactrodinae comprises only the genus Bactrodes Stål, with five described species (Maldonado 1990; Coscarón & Melo 2003). Coscarón & Melo (2003) revised the subfamily and gave a key to separate the species. The genus has been recorded from Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, French Guiana, Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina (Maldonado 1990; Villiers 1971; Coscarón & Melo 2003). B. femoratus is commonly found on Aciotis laxa (Melastomataceae) in French Guiana (Bérenger & PluotSigwalt 1997).
In Colombia, only B. spinulosus has been recorded (Coscarón & Melo 2003). The specimens listed below are a new species record from Colombia. The specimen examined from Cali was completely green when alive, and it was found preying on Chaetocnema sp. ( Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae). No field prey information was previously known for any of the species of the genus.
