Ponerobia bipustulata (Fabricius, 1781)
Ponerobia Amyot & Serville, 1843, is a monotypic genus, described from Surinam (Maldonado 1990). P. bipustulata is clearly distinguished from other Apiomerini by the shape and length of the first antennal segment, which is shorter than the second one and thickened apically (Fig. 43). The Colombian specimen was found associated with Beharus cylindripes and Amauroclopius ornatus on the same tree, a “cativo” (see above). In addition to Surinam, it has been recorded from French Guiana, Colombia, and Brazil (Stål 1872; Costa Lima et al. 1948; Bérenger & PluotSigwalt 1997; GilSantana et al. 2003). Although Stål (1868) mentioned this species from “ America meridionalis,” no exact localities were given. The specimens listed below therefore constitute new records from Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago. GilSantana et al. (2003) recorded this species from Colombia, but without giving precise localities, which are provided below.
