Heniartes cachabi Wygodzinsky, 1947

The genus Heniartes Spinola, 1840 was revised by Wygodzinsky (1947a), who subsequently described two new species (Wygodzinsky 1953). Carcavallo et al. (1960) described two further species from Bolivia. With the recent revalidation of H. australis Wygodzinsky, 1947, the genus now includes 32 species (Forero & GilSantana 2003). H. cachabi was previously known only from the type localities, “Cachabi ” and “Parambá” (Wygodzinsky 1947a), both located in northwestern Ecuador. This species (Fig. 30) constitutes a new record from Colombia, and extends the distribution of this species to the north.
