Beharus cylindripes (Fabricius, 1803)
Beharus Amyot & Serville, 1843, is a monotypic genus described from Surinam (Maldonado 1990) with additional records from Guyana, French Guiana, Colombia, and Brazil (Wygodzinsky 1948; Bérenger et al. 1997; GilSantana et al. 2001). The species was redescribed by GilSantana et al. (2001). B. cylindripes is recorded here from Venezuela and Peru for the first time. GilSantana et al. (2003) recorded the genus from Colombia, without giving precise localities, which are given here. The locality data of the Colombian specimens show that this species is not restricted to the Amazon basin. The specimen from Turbo (Antioquia) (Fig. 29) was found associated with Ponerobia bipustulata (see below) and A. ornatus on the same tree species, a “cativo.” The Venezuelan specimen examined was also collected in association with Ponerobia bipustulata specimens.
