Heniartes distinguendus Wygodzinsky, 1947
H. distinguendus has never been mentioned in the literature after its description (Maldonado 1990). The specimens examined here exhibit some degree of variation not mentioned by Wygodzinsky (1947a): the anterolateral angles of the collar vary from blunt to pointed; the color of the posterior pronotal lobe varies from red to yellowish, but the anterior lobe is always red; the abdomen varies from mostly yellowish with black spots to completely black. H. distinguendus was previously recorded only from an unspecified locality in Ecuador (Wygodzinsky 1947a). The specimens listed below are new records from Colombia and Venezuela (Fig. 31).
