Habit: plant very variable in habit, ranging from a weak stemmed often prostrate sometimes juicy-stemmed herb to an erect subshrub or (?) small tree (9 cm- 3 m).

Habitat: between small shrubs, on and between chalk rocks forests.

Distribution: from southern India and Himalayas throughout China to southern Japan, southwards through Indochina and the Philippines, Indonesia to New Guinea and northern Australia .
