Pheidole nana var. subreticulata Emery HNS 1894d: 159.

Etymology l subreticulata HNS, less netlike, evidently referring to the small rugoreticulum on the head.
diagnosis Similar in various traits to breviscapa HNS, bruchella HNS, micon HNS, nana HNS, and tennantae HNS, differing as follows.
Major: rugoreticulum limited to a very small patch just posterior to the antennal fossa on each side of the head; almost all of the dorsal surface and most of the lateral surfaces of the head, up to and including the occiput, carinulate; center of pronotal dorsum transversely carinulate, and sides weakly and longitudinally carinulate; mesonotal dorsum foveolate with a few broken, very short rugulae; propodeal spines half as long as the propodeal basal face; petiolar node in side view thick near base, tapering toward apex; postpetiole from above diamond-shaped.
