Diagnosis. Fully winged male of Embolemus (Figs 1–4) with OOL about twice as long as greatest breadth of lateral ocelli (Fig. 3); metapectal-propodeal disc with lateral surfaces partly smooth and unsculptured, with some irregular striae or keels (Fig. 4).
Description of male holotype. Fully winged (Figs 1–4); length 2.7–3.4 mm (holotype 3.4 mm). Dark brown (holotype) to brown-testaceous (paratypes); mandible, clypeus and legs testaceous; antenna brown, except scape and pedicel brown-testaceous. Antenna filiform, articulated to prominent frontal contiguous processes; antennal toruli very far from upper margin of clypeus. Ratios of antennomeres: 18:4.5:21:20:19:19:17:16:15:17. Head (Fig. 3) shiny, unsculptured, finely setose, with dorsal side swollen; occipital carina complete; ocelli distinct; POL = 2; OL = 2; OOL = 6; OPL = 3; TL = 5; OOL about twice as long as greatest breadth of lateral ocelli (6:3) (Fig. 3); face without short median stria in front of anterior ocellus; eye small, much shorter than head (13:25); face from clypeus to antennal toruli with two very convergent incomplete longitudinal and median sutures. Palpal formula 6/3. Pronotum shiny, crossed by strong transverse impression; anterior collar hidden under head; posterior surface of pronotum much shorter than half of mesoscutum; pronotum shorter than mesoscutum (10:20). Mesoscutum shiny, unsculptured, finely setose. Notauli absent. Mesoscutellum shiny, unsculptured. Metanotum short, transverse, unsculptured. Metapectal-propodeal complex (Fig. 4) shiny, with lateral surfaces partly unsculptured, with some irregular striae or keels, with transverse keel between disc and propodeal declivity. Metapectal-propodeal disc and propodeal declivity with two complete median longitudinal keels (keels anteriorly limiting one small subtrapezoidal area situated near metanotum) (Fig. 4). Mesopleuron and metapleuron shiny, unsculptured. Forewing slightly darkened, with four cells enclosed by pigmented veins (C, R, 1Cu, 1M); distal part of 2r-rs&Rs vein slightly longer than proximal part (27:19); Hind wing hyaline, not darkened.
